Supervisory Board appoints Management Board of Hrvatska elektroprivreda d.d.

30.12.2022.
At its session on 30 December 2022, the Supervisory Board of Hrvatska elektroprivreda d.d. appointed the Management Board of HEP upon the Government’s proposal for a period of four years.

Upon the proposal of the Croatian Government, Frane Barbarić was appointed the President of the Management Board, whereas Tomislav Šambić, Petar Sprčić and Vice Oršulić were appointed members of the Management Board. Vice Oršulić has been the director of the Production area of hydro power plant Jug in HEP Proizvodnja. The appointed shall take office as of 1 January 2023.

“Owing to good-quality management and positive financial indicators in the previous four years, which has been confirmed by restoring the credit rating at the investment level for the first time following 2009, we are facing the current energy crisis, the biggest in recent history, strong and well-prepared. Apart from ensuring sufficient volumes of gas for the national market, we took over the load of subsidized electricity and heating prices totalling almost at EUR 800 million, as well as several thousand customers of other electricity and gas suppliers. In order to reduce the dependence on Russian energy fuels and to strengthen Croatian energy self-sufficiency, we sped up the preparation and realization of renewable energy source projects, in line with guidelines and decisions of the Croatian Government and the European Union policies. In the period from 2018 and today, we put into operation two biomass-fired combined heat and power plants, one wind farm and seven solar power plants. Additional four solar power plants are under construction and one is awaiting construction. There are around 60 solar power plant and wind farm projects under preparation, with the total power of 1,400 MW worth almost EUR 1.5 billion. Also, the new unit in the Combined heat and power plant Zagreb is worth EUR 120 million and it is more than 90 percent completed, so that it is going to be put into operation next year. As a result of substantial national funds in the value of stated investments, their realization shall continue to significantly contribute to the stability and growth of the national economy”, said Frane Barbarić.

Frane Barbarić was born in 1966. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1991. From 1994 to 2004 he worked in Zagreb nekretnine d.o.o. ZANE, a member of Zaba Group, and from 2004 to 2007 in PBZ Leasing d.o.o.

He has been working in Hrvatska elektroprivreda since 2007 first as assistant director of the HR, General and Legal Affairs Department, then as its director, assistant to the president of the Management Board and the head of the Statutory Law Unit in the Legal Affairs Department.
