HRO HYDRO Conference 2007

11.06.2007.
In Šibenik, from June 3 to 5, HRO HYDRO Conference 2007 was held – The Role of Hydro Power Plants in the Croatian Power System.

Organized by HEP d.d. and the Electrical Engineering Society Zagreb, this conference was the continuation of the initiative taken by the Electrical Engineering Society in 2001 when the international symposium HEPP (hydro power plants – renewable energy for today and tomorrow) was organized for the first time. Welcoming some 170 participants and wishing them a successful conference were Head of Šibenik-Knin County, Goran Pauk, and the Mayor of Šibenik, Neda Klarić.

The work unfolded through presentations divided into six topics, coordinated by the Organizing Committee chaired by Ante Despot, member of HEP Management Board responsible for production. In his closing address, A. Despot said that this gathering of experts from HEP hydroelectric production and manufacturers of hydro equipment would become a tradition, adding that “Another goal we have is to become a full member of the international HYDRO, to which we will submit our application at its next conference this year in Spain.

During the work, a book by our colleague, Alfredo Višković, PhD, Director of Strategic Planning Department, was promoted, entitled Ekonomija i politika proizvodnje električne energije (Economy and electricity production policy), co-authored by the Italian scientist Luigi de Paoli, a full professor of economics and corporate management. On the last day of the Conference, the participants visited our first generating plant, the 112 year old Jaruga hydro power plant, located in the Krka National Park.
