Under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship, and Hrvatska Elektroprivreda, the Croatian Liaison Committee for CIRED (HO CIRED), an association that brings together electricity distribution specialists, held its first session in Šibenik`s Solaris Hotels.
After the formal opening during which President of HEP Management Board Ivan Mravak, Šibenik Mayor Neda Klarić, President of HERA Managing Council Tomo Galić, President of HO CIRED Kažimir Vrankić, President of HO CIGRE Ivica Toljan, and Davor Mladina, a representative of the golden sponsor – Končar, welcomed the audience and wished them a successful work, almost four hundred participants coming from distribution companies, professional organizations and faculties together with equipment manufacturers and service providers, grouped into six study committees, considered more than 130 papers during the two days of very active work.
The excellently attended lectures and the seriousness of and interest in each of the grouped topics showed that the setting up of HO CIRED and its first session fulfilled the intended purposes. The electricity distribution people recognized the new challenges facing them: the equally complex issues of implementation of new energy guidelines and of attaining European standards, and the issues of introduction of new technologies and of changing maintenance approach and upgrading the whole system. This vision – secure and reliable supply to our customers – will be realized by the distribution business in the upcoming open electricity market environment. The session has shown that there is a need for exchange of knowledge and information among those working in the distribution business, which ensures the bright future for HO CIRED.
