End of the heating season

14.05.2008.
HEP Toplinarstvo, the producer and distributor of heat energy for residential and industrial customers in the areas of Zagreb, Zaprešić, Samobor, Velika Gorica, Osijek and Sisak, ends the heating season on Thursday, May 15, 2008.

The period of readiness for heating began on September 15, 2007 and the entire system, from the distribution network to the boiler plants in buildings, successfully supplied heat for 115,288 residential and 5,847 business customers. During the season, 1,668.637 MWh of district heat was delivered, which is about 27 percent more than in the previous heating season. HEP Toplinarstvo assesses the heating season as successful. There were no major breakdowns, and smaller repairs were carried out at night between 10 pm and 6 am when the heating is reduced anyway. Since the winter was colder than the last, more district heat was supplied than the previous season, which was reflected on customer bills so they were on average higher by 16 percent. As from May 15, 2008 HEP Toplinarstvo will began overhaul of its plants with only 15 percent of installed capacity in operation – those parts of the system used to heat sanitary hot water. HEP Toplinarstvo reminds its customers to prepare their in-house installations for the next heating season. The entire system will be operationally ready on September 15, 2008 and by then all works should be completed and installations should be prepared because after that date the automatic control in heating stations automatically starts heating as soon as outdoor temperatures drop below 17˚C.
