Construction begins of Plat transformer station

At the Dubrovnik hydro power plant location, on December 20, the start of construction of the TS 220/110/35/20(10) kV Plat was symbolically marked, whereby the implementation of the strategic electricity Dubrovnik Program began, which in its first phase includes also the construction of the TS 110/20 kV Srđ.

The ceremony was attended by the Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor; Minister of the Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship Đuro Popijač; Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić; Dubrovnik’s Mayor Andro Vlahušić; Head of Župa Dubrovačka Silvio Nardelli; members of the Parliament; state secretaries; president of HEP Management Board Leo Begović with his team; and representatives of works and supplies contractor companies. The audience was addressed first by Mr Begović who, among other things, said: “We at HEP are especially proud of our role in creating a Christmas atmosphere and of the fact that all our customers can rely on us. Today’s event, which can be justly considered a Christmas present to Dubrovnik and its area, guarantees that we will also successfully accomplish our task in this southernmost part of Croatia.” Expressing her satisfaction at laying the foundation stone for the Plat transformer station, an important project worth 350 million kuna, Prime Minister Kosor pointed out that the major government program being launched consisted of 30 investments projects among which were electric power projects of significance for the Dubrovnik area, Ombla HPP, Dubrovnik 2 HPP and TS 110/20 Srđ. The construction of TS Plat and associated power lines will be completed in 2013 and, when put into operation, ensure, among other things: secure and reliable electricity supply to the wider area of Dubrovnik; secure placement of electricity produced by Dubrovnik HPP; possibility of connecting the 220 kV double-circuit line toward the planned TS 220/110 kV Zagvozd in phase two of the Dubrovnik Program; a possibility of connecting two new generators in Dubrovnik HPP of 2x153 MW capacity to the 220 kV switchyard at TS Plat, as well as the possibility of connecting, at a later point, to the electricity system of Montenegro by constructing a 110 kV Plat-Herceg Novi line.
