In Vienna, XIX CIRED (International Conference on Electricity Distribution), the members of which include Croatia, closed on May 25 with technical visits.
It was the largest gathering to date of the international electricity distribution community, with more than 1100 registered participants from some sixty countries – of which some twenty from Croatia, more than 600 papers – seven from Croatia, more than 400 poster sessions, more than 20 roundtables, five tutorials, and with some sixty companies from around the world as exhibitors. Papers were discussed at six CIRED technical committees: Network Components; Power Quality and EMC; Operation, Network Protection and Control; Distributed Generation – Management and Utilisation of Electricity; Power Distribution System Development; Regulation, Management, Organization and Related IT. At the same time as these main sessions were held, two a day, poster sessions were held in the tight schedule as well as other specialized presentations and meetings of working groups.
At the formal opening of the Conference, on May 21, in his welcome address CIRED Chairman, Dr. Adolf Schweer from RWE made special mention of Croatia and Chairman of our National Committee, Kazimir Vrankić, as being a very active Committee and future member of CIRED Directing Committee. The next, jubilee XX conference will be held in June 2009 in Prague.
