The finishing of ESCO-model project in schools in Krapinsko-zagorska county

In December 2010 HEP ESCO has completely finished 7,3 million kunas worth energy efficiency project on Krapinsko-zagorska county schools’ objects

Project included 12 primary school objects in whole county area. Energy efficiency measures included boiler reconstruction or construction, switching to gas as new energy generating product, the reconstruction of installations, thermostatic valves installation and joinery reconstruction. Energy costs reduction resulted with financial savings of about 1.146.753 kn a year, with the same working regimes used before energy efficiency measurements implementation, that is 674 089 kWh/year reduction in energy.

These projects brought not only financial benefits and energy savings, but also significant quality improvements of school objects. By using energy savings for investment financing trough ESCO model, Krapinsko zagorska county had their budget free for other priority projects, which would not be possible otherwise.

This project is also significant from environmental point of view, because by using energy efficiency measures and transferring from fuel oil to gas for heat preparation purposes, these objects have lower influence on environment. Summary emissions for these 12 school objects before implementation were 945.137 kg CO2 a year. By using energy efficiency measures they were reduced for 319.461 kg a year, or for 33,8% in comparison with initial object status.

HEP-ESCO and Krapinsko-zagorska county have shown with this project that ESCO model and energy efficiency investments have multiple benefits for local community.
