Reconstruction of Plomin TPP implies replacement of the first Plomin TPP unit with an aim of modernization and capacity increase of the power plant. Replacement unit will represent a long-term safe and stable source of base electricity at competitive price on the market. Usage of coal will contribute to diversification of the energy-generating products and technologies in HEP's portfolio of generating plants and lower the risk of dependence on a single source of energy, actually on electricity import. Plomin C TPP will use the same fuel as today's units operating in the Plomin TPP, imported hard coal with low content of sulfur.Replacement unit will have the capacity of 500 MW at generator, which means that this reconstruction will increase the capacity to 710 MW at Plomin TPP site instead of today's 325 MW installed capacity (115 MW at Plomin TPP 1 and 210 MW at Plomin 2 TPP).
The Plomin TPP reconstruction project was designated a project of strategic interest in line with the Act on Strategic Investment Projects of the Republic of Croatia in May 2014.
