HEP ESCO and the city of Čakovec signed the Energy Efficiency Project Implementation Agreement on December 30, 2008. The 7 million kuna worth project has encompassed the city of Čakovec and its 12 suburban areas.
As part of the Energy Efficiency Project, the entire public lighting system was screened. 

re public lighting system was screened. The project itself included 2,780 individual operations. Under the project, 1,331 new lamps were installed, of which 975 were street lights and 356 ambient ones. Of the existing lamps, 953 were reconstructed.
The reconstruction included the replacement of all worn out elements as well the installation of efficient light sources and the regulation of luminous flux on 250W lamps. 154 lamps were relocated. Apart from energy efficiency measures, the project also included the replacement of 191 and the rehabilitation of 151 street light posts.

Total annual financial savings amount to HRK 600,000, while total energy savings amount to 750,000 kWh per year.

Project's final acceptance ceremony took place on January 21, 2011 to the mutual satisfaction of representatives of the city of Čakovec and HEP ESCO, respectively. Benefits from the implementation of this project include not only electricity consumption savings but also system maintenance cost decrease. It also represents the comprehensive modernization solution encompassing the entire public lighting system.
