Schools – Varaždin County

Energy Efficiency Project of HEP ESCO for schools in the Varaždin County ensured modernization of schools and reduction in energy costs.
Phase one of the Project encompassed five schools.

In Elementary School Novi Marof, reconstruction was carried out of gas boiler room, modernization of lighting, reconstruction of the heating pipework in the school’s old wing and installation of thermostatic valves in radiators.

In Secondary Vocational School Varaždin reconstruction was carried out of the gas boiler room and installation of thermostatic valves in radiators and reactive power compensator.

In Elementary School Vinica, thermostatic valves and reactive power compensator were installed.

In Secondary School Ivanec automatic controls in gas boiler room and heating substation were installed as well as thermostatic valves.

In Elementary School Metel Ožegović, Radovan, thermostatic valves, automation, reconstruction of kitchen ventilation were installed and oil was replaced with gas as fuel.

The successful completion of phase one was followed by phase two in which another three schools were reconstructed: Bednja, Varaždinske Toplice and Druškovec. In these schools, heating and lighting systems were modernized and switching from oil to gas was carried out.

The project is also important from environmental protection aspect because replacing the source of energy for heating reduces emission of detrimental gases and consequently contributes directly to sustainable development which is becoming an important guideline in development strategies of cities, municipalities and counties.
