Prime Minster put Unit L at TE-TO Zagreb into commercial operation

28.06.2011.
Today at TE-TO Zagreb by a symbolic click on the mouse Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor put into commercial operation Unit L, a combined-cycle cogeneration plant.

The formal ceremony was attended by members of the Croatian Parliament, Minister of the Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship Đuro Popijač, State Secretary Nataša Vujec, Head of the Energy Directorate Darko Horvat, Deputy Mayor of Zagreb Jelena Pavičić Vukičević, and representatives of state institutions, Unit L Project partner companies and HEP. President of HEP d.d. Management Board Leo Begović said that Unit L had been in trial operation since April 1, 2010 and now began commercial operation after obtaining all operating permits. This plant has an especially important role for Zagreb as the largest demand center in Croatia as it will significantly increase the capital’s security of electricity supply as well as the security of heat supply for the population and of process steam for industrial plants in the eastern part of the city, said Mr. Begović. The gathering was then addressed by Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor who thanked HEP d.d. Management Board for the opportunity to put Unit L, worth nearly 100 million euros, into commercial operation just now in the historic atmosphere of Croatia’s accession to the European Union. She mentioned the efforts made by the Government since 2009 to improve the quality of operation of public enterprises, adding that she was always glad to single out HEP as an example that had overcome the crisis and begun to implement a respectable investment cycle. Referring to energy projects, worth more than four billion euros in total, Mrs Kosor said: Last year we put Lešće into operation, the first hydropower plant built in the independent Croatia, but also – somewhat quietly – the transmission line Ernestinovo – Pecs. This Unit at TE-TO is yet another important and valuable economic investment. Such projects may remain invisible to one’s eyes but mean a great deal.
