System operation in real time

HEP-OPS operates the Croatian power system in real time as an indivisible whole by continuously controlling production, internal transmission, import, export and transmission network, and monitors the distribution network and large customers.

Real-time system operation includes:

• control of generating plants, import, export and transit of electricity,
• control of transmission network,
• monitoring of distribution customers and other large customers,
• matching production and procurement with transmission and distribution,
• balancing supply and consumption,
• congestion management,
• ensuring coordinated switching operations in the transmission network with neighboring networks,
• provision of ancillary services,
• clearing of disturbances and crisis in the system,
• changing System Operation Plan on the day of implementation,
• analysis of system operation in real time.
