 Development of rural areas
Renewable energy sources contribute to the development of rural areas.
Power plants that use a renewable energy source are usually situated away from urban centers so that they contribute to the development of their surrounding area, especially regarding:
- employment of local population,
- construction of transport routes and access roads,
- improved security of electricity supply and
- additional amenities in the vicinity of such a power plant.
An additional benefit is monetary compensation to the local community that the power plant’s owner is obligated to pay (0.01 kn/kWh under the current law for wind power plants whose installed capacity exceeds 1 MW, geothermal power plants and small hydro power plants).
