Change of managing director of HEP OIE (May 2012)
By Decision of HEP d.d. Management Board, Dr. Hubert Bašić assumes position of managing director of HEP OIE (HEP Renewable Energy Sources Ltd.) as from May 9, 2012. Until then, Dr. Bašić was a member of HEP d.d. Supervisory Board and project manager at Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar.
The outgoing managing director Goran Slipac assumes position of assistant managing director of HEP OIE.
HEP OIE is one of the partners in SOLUTION Project.
HEP Obnovljivi izvori energije d.o.o. has taken part in CONCERTO – an energy program of the European Commission, joining as one of the partners in the implementation of SOLUTION, a project co-financed by the European Union.SOLUTION Project is the acronym of Sustainable Oriented and Long-Lasting Unique Team for energy self-sufficient cOmmuNities. As the project name suggests, its main objective is to develop a model to encourage public and private partners to establish energy self-sufficient communities by applying energy efficiency and using renewable energy sources. The Solution Consortium consists of 17 registered partners from Austria, Finland, Switzerland and Slovenia, while Croatia is represented by Split-Dalmatia County, HEP Obnovljivi izvori energije d.o.o., and iC eurocontact as the project coordinator.
The demonstration project will be implemented on the island of Hvar, covering programs to increase energy efficiency in tourist and residential buildings, to build a 200 MW biogas plant, to build a 1 MW solar power plant, a program to encourage the use of renewable energy sources and to make a balance between electricity production and consumption. The anticipated project duration is 60 months. CONCERTO Project is part of the Community’s program FP7. FP7 is an EU financial instrument used to finance research and development in Europe and other parts of the world. News and information about the project can be found on its official website:

A new booklet from HEP OIE (March 2009)
HEP-Obnovljivi izvori energije d.o.o. issues a booklet on renewable energy sources and its activities
The booklet gives a brief overview of different renewable energy technologies and possibilities of using them in Croatia. Also, it presents the renewable energy company HEP-Obnovljivi izvori energije, its objectives, business areas and the most important activities since founding. The booklet has been made in collaboration with Marketing and corporate communications sector of HEP Group and Bestias design team. It is accessible from the menu on the right (Presentations) in Croatian and English.

Loan and donation to HEP (February 2009)
By the ceremonial signing of Loan Agreement, the proceeds of which come from a special fund of the Government of the Republic of Germany entitled International Climate Protection Initiative, HEP was extended a loan in the amount of 50 million euro and a donation of 600 thousand euro.
The loan was made possible by the German development bank Kreditanstalt für Wideraufbau (KfW) and is part of an international climate change initiative which promotes energy efficiency and investment in renewable energy sources. The agreements were signed by Ivan Mravak and Roland Siller, Senior Vice President of Kreditanstalt für Wideraufbau. The signing ceremony was also attended by Andreas Haack, Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Croatia, Dr. Claudia Loy, KfW Director for Energy and Transport Europe, Gordana Lučić, Director of HEP-ESCO, and Goran Slipac, Director of HEP Obnovljivi izvori energije. In his address Mr Mravak recalled HEP’s commitment to the implementation of energy efficiency projects through its daughter company HEP ESCO and HEP’s positioning in the area of renewable energy sources through its company HEP Obnovljivi izvori energije. “The trust expressed by this loan, especially in a period of crisis in the world financial market, confirms HEP as a reliable and serious partner”, concluded Mr Mravak.
International Climate Protection Initiative will provide funding on very favorable terms including a 15 year repayment period, a 5 year grace period and a very favorable interest rate of 4.5 percent.

Change of directors in HEP OIE (September 2008)
A new director of HEP Obnovljivi izvori energije d.o.o. (HEP OIE) is Goran Slipac, appointed on August 1, 2008, formerly director of Corporate Development and Strategy Division of HEP d.d. and advisor to the president of the Management Board. Zoran Stanić, HEP OIE director until then, was appointed assistant director of HEP OIE.

HEP OIE website expanded (May 2008)
The website of HEP OIE has been expanded to include FAQs and Events as a sublink of About Us. Actually, as we followed for several months the number of our visitors and what they were interested in, we noticed that the questions being asked were frequently similar or the same. So we grouped some unclear topics and decided to post them in the form of questions and answers in order to facilitate access and save time for all interested parties. In addition, there are Events that are also new. Our intention is to publish news and events that are closely related to our business. These pages also contain presentations that we held at various gatherings in Croatian and English.

Cooperation agreement signed between HEP and Dalekovod (November 5, 2007)
As part of the 8th HRO CIGRE Session, at a press conference, presidents of the managements boards of HEP and Dalekovod, Ivan Mravak and Luka Miličić, signed Memorandum of Understanding related to renewable energy (wind power plants). The Memorandum is intended to achieve one of HEP’s objectives, namely, a 30 percent share in the renewables market.

Cooperation agreement signed between HEP and Hrvatske Šume (September 7, 2007)
Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP) and the company Hrvatske šume (Croatian Forests) signed a Memorandum of Understanding related to renewable sources, starting thereby the implementation of a project to exploit forest biomass for energy production. The Agreement was signed by Zoran Stanić, HEP OIE (a member of HEP Group) Director and Darko Beuk, President of Hrvatske Šume Management Board. Hrvatske Šume, said Beuk, have recognized its interest in this partnership: forest biomass, unutilized so far, is beginning to be used for clean energy, which will contribute to better and healthier forests. HEP OIE Director Stanić said that a company’s business objective was to build biomass power plants over the next three to five years. “To achieve our objective, we need a reliable partner that will provide long-term fuel supply at a reasonable price, and in this country it is Hrvatske Šume.” The Agreement was signed during “Days of Slavonian Forest”, held in Našice.

Cooperation agreement signed between HEP and Verbund and BEWAG (July 17, 2007)
A Memorandum of Understanding related to the development of wind power projects was signed between HEP and the Austrian companies Verbund and BEWAG on July 17, 2007. For HEP, the Memorandum was signed by President of the Management Board, Ivan Mravak and by Director of HEP OIE, Zoran Stanić, for Verbund by members of the Management Board, Ulrike Baumgartner-Gabitzer and Christian Kern, and for BEWAG also by members of the Management Board, Jozef Münzenrieder and Hans Lukits. HEP OIE, a HEP daughter company, and CEMP d.o.o., a company founded jointly by Verbund and BEWAG, are responsible for the implementation of the Agreement and further negotiations.
