Eligible customers who have not found their supplier within the prescribed period pay for electricity they consume at the unit price of balancing energy. The calculation based on balancing energy price is prescribed in the Methodology for the provision of balancing energy services in the electricity system (NN 133/06) and its amendments published in Narodne novine (90/08 and 70/09). The most recent amendments dated June 15, 2009 set out that customers who have not found their supplier within the prescribed period, unlike tariff customers, pay for electricity they consume according to the tariff rates set out in the tariff system for production plus 20 percent. They pay other charges (charges for transmission, distribution and supply) the same as other tariff customers. The methodology applicable until June 30, 2009 caused monthly fluctuations of unit prices of balancing energy. The unit prices of balancing energy for the past period, by month, can be seen here.

According to the new methodology, eligible customers who have not found their supplier pay:

• charge for production at prices set out in the tariff system for production plus 20 percent,
• charge for supply at prices set out in the tariff system for supply,
• charge for transmission at prices set out in the tariff system for transmission, and
• charge for distribution at prices set out in the tariff system for distribution.
