HEP's five new charging stations in tourist destinations

19.07.2019.
The current cycle of installing EV charging stations at tourist destinations in Dalmatia was completed by Hrvatska elektroprivreda today. Since this week, tourists who were enabled by HEP to travel by electric vehicles from the border to the seaside some ten days ago, have had at their disposal new ELEN charging stations. EV charging stations have been installed in the towns on the Croatian coast and on islands: on Kralj Tomislav Square in Ploče, in Stari Grad at the address Put Rudine, in Jelsa (Žardin bb), in Makarska (Ruđera Boškovića bb) and in Drvenik – Gradac (Puntin).

HEP’s five new charging stations are complementing the existing ELEN charging station network in the cities and along motorways, so the network provides conditions for further development of Croatian tourism, making it possible for a growing number of electric vehicle owners from the European countries to arrive comfortably and smoothly at all tourist destinations in Croatia. Namely, on 10 July 2019 HEP marked the putting into operation of the first 16, out of 57 foreseen EV charging stations along motorways and at motorway entry/exit points, which enabled electric vehicle owners to travel from the border with Slovenia and Hungary to the Adriatic Sea for the first time and provided the Republic of Croatia the connection to the network of electric vehicle charging stations onto the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

The 2 x 22 kW charging station in Drvenik (Gradac) as well as fast ELEN 50 kW charging stations in Ploče, Makarska and Jelsa, were installed within the bigEVdata project, co-funded by the European Union, as part of which 42 charging stations are going to be installed at different locations around Croatia. HEP’s ELEN network is complemented by the 50 kW charging station in Stari Grad, which will, along with the charging station in Jelsa, enable the guests, electric vehicle owners to have a carefree stay on the island of Hvar and will contribute to the further positioning of Hvar as a modern and environmentally-friendly tourist destination. All charging stations enable simultaneous charging of two vehicles and are equipped with all three standardized connectors, so they can be used by all the available, but also upcoming types of electric vehicles at the market.

For now, charging at ELEN charging stations is in the development phase of the project, it is free of charge and can be conducted by using any standardized contactless card. All users can get additional information at the e-mail address: elen@hep.hr. By now HEP has put into operation more than 80 public ELEN charging stations around Croatia. By completing the projects, which are currently active, HEP’s network will, along with the already installed ones have more than a hundred charging stations, optimally located all over Croatia. HEP’s development plans in the field of e-mobility are directed primarily towards creating an optimum charging station network , which will enable intercity travel by electric vehicles on all routes.
