Last week HEP was visited by representatives of Quanta Energized Services (Houston, Texas) – the golden sponsor of the International Conference on Live Maintenance (ICOLIM) 2011, whose team will give their first presentation of live maintenance for Europe at this year's ICOLIM in Zagreb.
The reason John White, the director, and Dave Wabneggar, senior advisor and leader of the demonstration team, made the visit was to carry out the final check of the location on the 110 kV Žerjavinec-Dubec 2 where their team would make the demonstration of live maintenance on June 2 this year – the last day of this year's ICOLIM. At the meeting held on this April 8 at TS Žerjavinac final details were defined with the guests from Texas concerning the location of the live work demonstration. Mr White and Mr Wabnagger were content with both the state of the work location and the answers on the spot. Thus all elements important for the arrival of Quanta Services employees and participation in ICOLIM were determined. A brief meeting was also held with the member of the Management Board Damir Pečvarac, who was interested to know the type of work and equipment planned for the demonstration and wished the guests a successful continuation of the cooperation with the Conference Organizing Committee. From Mr. White’s and Mr. Wabneggar’s talk about Quanta, we learned that the company employs 20 thousand people providing the services in the field of electricity, gas distribution and telecommunications. Its annual income is about five billion dollars of which 1.5 billion comes from the maintenance of electric power facilities. It has been improving its services and expanding its operation for 14 years now. No incident or injury has been reported related to live maintenance with which, in 2010, Quanta Energized Services employees participated with 10 percent of the earnings in the energy segment and/or contributed 150 million dollars to the company’s profit. After South African Republic and Peru, now is the time to make the first presentation of live maintenance for Europe – at this year’s ICOLIM in Zagreb. Therefore, in addition to the seven-member demonstration team, this company will be represented by ten members of top management.
