 Environmental policy principles
- Incorporate environmental issues in HEP development plans and strategy and make environmental protection criteria a part of planning and decision-making processes
- Use resources efficiently, reduce emissions into air, water and soil, and reduce quantity and hazards of waste
- Preserve biological-ecological and other natural values of the environment around HEP plants by implementing measures for protection of flora and fauna, natural and cultural-historical heritage
- Install and maintain, on every HEP plant site, continuous environmental monitoring systems and publish the results obtained
- Promote the use of renewable energy sources and cogenerating units
- Develop and research the application of cleaner and improved technologies in electricity production, transmission and distribution
- Educate and train HEP employees for environmental protection
- Cooperate with central and local government authorities, institutions and non-governmental organizations involved in environmental protection
- Advocate efficient and conservative use of energy at customer and national level
- Urge equipment suppliers, consulting, design engineering and other business partners of HEP to develop their environmental policies along these principles
