Environmental policy principles

• Incorporate environmental issues in HEP development plans and strategy and make  environmental protection criteria a part of planning and decision-making processes
• Use resources efficiently, reduce emissions into air, water and soil, and  reduce  quantity and hazards of waste
• Preserve biological-ecological and other natural values of the environment around HEP plants by implementing measures for protection of flora and fauna, natural and cultural-historical heritage
• Install and maintain, on every HEP plant site,  continuous environmental monitoring systems and publish the results obtained
• Promote the use of renewable energy sources and cogenerating units
• Develop and research the application of cleaner and improved technologies in electricity production, transmission and distribution 
• Educate and train HEP employees for environmental protection
• Cooperate with central and local government authorities, institutions and non-governmental organizations involved in environmental protection
• Advocate efficient and conservative use of energy at customer and national level
• Urge equipment suppliers, consulting, design engineering and other business partners of HEP to develop their environmental policies along these principles
