General Hospital Varaždin

For General Hospital Varaždin HEP ESCO developed and implemented Energy Efficiency Project worth 11.5 million kuna. Total savings in heating costs amount to more than 1.4 million kuna a year, consisting of energy, maintenance and staff cost savings.

The implementation of the Project included the following measures: optimization of heating system, reconstruction of steam and condensate system – laundry, installation of thermostatic valves, replacement of the steam boiler, connecting to the central control and monitoring system.

The financing for the Project was secured by HEP ESCO in loans from the World Bank and commercial banks. It is important to mention that about 97 percent of the Project value can be recovered from energy savings over eight years. The remaining portion is related to works that must be carried out along with reconstruction and equipment replacement, representing the Hospital’s necessary investments.

The Energy Efficiency Project in General Hospital Varaždin has resulted in significant reduction in energy consumption and costs as well as pollutant emissions. Also, the Project allows better services to patients and better working conditions to the Hospital’s staff.
